01 October, 2010

Hello October!

Wow, I cannot believe October is here already! As one of my favourite months in the year for a few good reasons - a) it's my birthday month, b) it's Halloween [which is my actual birthday day & for fun celebrations for my friends in the Untied States]; c) New South Wales [my home state] gets Daylight Savings this weekend, and d) for New South Welshman and a few other Australian states we get the Labor Day October Long Weekend! And finally e) it's the start of the Sydney Food Festival... yum!
Not to forget all the gorgeous trees budding new leaves and all the blossom branches, the lawns get thicker and grow so much faster, warmer & longer days,  fabulous picnic & boating weather, and also a great time to spruce up your home before the Christmas festivities are upon us! Spring really is upon us in October!
Here's some great things that are on in Sydney this month....Take a look.

With four weeks of fabulous art, performance and music in our streets and public spaces, City of Sydney’s annual celebration of public art, Art & About Sydney, returns in 2010.
This year the event focuses on Sydney itself, with exciting work from established and emerging artists exploring what it means to live and work in this diverse and eclectic city. Highlights from this year’s program include the popular Sydney Life exhibition in Hyde Park North, the City’s collaboration with John Kaldor from Kaldor Public Art Projects bringing portraits of 100 Sydney faces to the City banners, intriguing works of art in city laneways, and flamboyantly decorated Sydney statues that reinterpret our history.
