Happy Weekend!

Yay it's the weekend....
For those of you in Australian Daylight Savings states - make sure you put your clock back 1hr - on Sunday morning 2am [or do it before you go to sleep on Saturday evening!] - even thought we lose our evening light, we get an extra hour sleep in and the mornings won't be so tragically dark when I get up at 6am!

What are you up to this weekend?
We have a few things on... we're picking up a pre-loved wooden cubby house from an Ebay auction I won for our little Isabelle - more pics on that project later - very excited. And I am so happy - I am having my gorgeous near 92yr old Grandma Sarah stay with us -  she hasn't seen our 'new-old' home yet and I am dying to show her what we have done so far inside and in the garden. And importantly - where I am going to spoil her rotten with her fave home cooked meals, pink champagne and cosy lie-ins!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks for joining me this week at Palatial Living...
Enjoy,

Happy Weekend!

So happy it's Friday and the weekend will be upon us soon! The sky is getting higher here in Sydney as Autumn approaches us soon [in the southern hemisphere] we have equinox on Tuesday 20th and for the state I live in [New South Wales] our extended daylight savings comes to an end Saturday 31st March into Sunday morning.... nearly a farewell to summer and a warm hello to autumn.

I have had a number of posts ready to publish this week and each time the day has passed me by... hence a few catch up posts today - you might have noticed?
It's been a little crazy in my 'Palatial' world at the moment and I must confess my focus and thoughts have been straying else-where - but not too far away! I promise. Just a few projects that have needed some serious attention! Now I cannot wait for some weekend time with my family - my little girl Isabelle, and husband 'Mr. Palatial', the 'Palatial Poochies' - with time on home renovation projects at our aptly named home 'Bundaleer' [a beautiful indigenous meaning for 'among the trees'] and celebrating my father-in-law's 60th Birthday! Yay!
So here's to your weekend for those of you who have some R&R planned... Thanks again for joining me this week at Palatial Living!
Enjoy!

Happy Weekend! x

Happy Weekend!
Thank you so very much for bearing with me over the past few weeks!
It's been a little bit of a 'flood' of events over the past week or so hence not being able to get onto my love, Palatial Living, so to share all the inspires me - and a few great projects along the way!
A lot has been happening in both work and family life... I am preparing to head off to China week after next for nearly 2 weeks on a sourcing & development trip - which is very exciting but will be a lot of hard work - meeting suppliers and visiting their showrooms, with at least 4 internal flights and an express train trip to boot! All in the name of style & product!
My super - wonderful -lovely students for my Cert IV Design Monday night class at ISCD will have to do without me for 1 week -  I will miss them... I love teaching at ISCD, if you're thinking about learning more about colour & design be sure to check out ISCD's website for on campus & distance learning through their iDE [international distance education] program. Which leads me to my fabulous & very resourceful iDE Cert IV Design students - who continue to blow me away over the month of may I had over 8 students submit their work - and you cannot believe the creative pieces they turn out! Am simply continually amazed!

On the home front - we've been cleaning out, throwing out and working out the 'what to do next' phase! Recently our new bed & side tables arrived [thank goodness - the bed was dying!}and our existing tall boy and blanket box no longer matched  in colouration to the new pieces... I love the 'old' pieces so was thinking of way to keep them and to not spend more money, & of how I could best re-purpose them...
Solution - I sanded and repainted them - Voila! The last coat of paint on the drawers is drying as we speak! So I plan to post pics of the before and after paint project for you - I am so pleased with the outcome and can't wait to add the crystal drawer knobs, I purchased in my fave home wares store Port Douglas last March whilst on our baby moon, onto the drawers! Stay tuned...
So a little more garage cleaning tomorrow and a trip to the local tip... and definitely a glass of wine!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend & a very Palatial time doing it!
See you soon...

It's Friday It's The Weekend!

1st April today and we're head long into Easter and my little Isabelle's 1st birthday fast approaching on 22nd! So I need some well earnt R&R this weekend... whoa my heavy schedule over the past 8 weeks has really caught up with me today - and so my thoughts are with wishing for lovely little naps over the weekend!
Some people love to sleep in the morning [my husband is one such person], others - like me - love an afternoon nap. I consider this a true luxury! And is none better than a favourite cosy spot with a throw & a few comfy cushions...
Hope you get to catch up on some 'zzzz' over the weekend if you need to, otherwise have truly wonderful & Palatial Weekend!
Thank you for joining me this week here at Palatial Living.
Enjoy,

Happy Friday...Whoa Whooo Weekend!

Wow, I can't believe Friday is finally here!
How has your week been? I have missed you all...
This week although in hindsight has gone quite quickly I can tell you it has felt like one of my longest... I was seriously fatigued come late Wednesday night, not sure how I got home really.
Late last week I received an email letting me know that I had 'made it' further into a design competition I had entered. So with that excitement also came an impromptu design brief and me being me wanted to try and pull out as many stops as I could so I came away feeling simply proud of the work I had created and accomplished. How did I do?? Well apparently there were a couple thousand entries for my state [New South Wales] alone and from that I was one of 55 who made it to the 2nd round [group interviews, then proceeded to an individual interview and present your design concept. And with that I am super happy...
Let me say that just in my group alone there were some phenomenal designers, concepts, and personalities! All of whom, by the time I left in the evening, I was lucky enough to have spoken with each one and find out a little more about...so very interesting! And some who might even be reading this post now! [Lovely to have met you!].
It was certainly an awesome [life] experience to be a part of... I think the final verdict is  out in several weeks time, by no means am I holding my breath, but certainly grateful for the super 'bucket list' opportunity!
I love this... not a bad little poster to keep you going.
Now to get my home, the washing, the family including poochies, and myself into some normalcy this week - before another onslaught of work begins next week!
Hope you have great weekend - sorry for the very minimal postings this week but will be back with you more often next week!
Hope you have Fun & a Palatial Weekend! Enjoy,

Happy Friday... the Weekend is Here x

I'm in love with all the gorgeous colour & print from
 this recent Hermes advertisement, and
of course just in love with anything Hermes!.

Happy Friday.... And so the weekend begins!
A BIG Thank You for joining me at Palatial Living this week and putting up with my bias towards my little baby girl Isabelle with posting her pics up for the Bonds Baby Search 2011! I will however be asking of you to please please please vote for us when the official polls open on 28 February [Monday week after next]!

Not only one of my favourite Fauves, figurative & modernist
artist - Henri Matisse, especially his collage and blue series
his words also hark creative simplicity in their truth.
I'd like this to be one of my mantras....it is so true.
I have received an exciting email late yesterday afternoon and need to finish a design brief project for the request by Wednesday afternoon. So you can guess what I will be up to over the weekend...going through my bower bird collection of samples, fabrics, [trying] to draw up some ideas and put them into a cohesive manner! I need a combination of a magi wand with CS5 Illustrator & the massive interactive screen from the movie 'Minority Report' - to just put it all together! Hey not a big ask [we all have crazy invention ideas]...I'll try the traditional path of drawn floor plans, and moods boards with tactile samples.... hopefully the ideas & design will be interpreted well enough from that!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned ahead... something Palatially relaxing!
Thanks again & Enjoy,

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to You! Next week I'm super excited to be going to a breakfast morning hosted by DIA [my professional industry association] held at the Art Gallery NSW 'All About Design & Colour' where speakers Greg Natale, Interior Designer & George Freedman of PTW Architects, will be sharing their creative & professional insights.
I cannot believe this [working] week is nearly to an end... I have been on the ISCD campus on a couple of weeknights helping out with the Certificate IV Design class and the Diploma of Surface Design - as a get a few prac teaching classes in, and writing lesson plans for a whole new group of students. It's all very exciting! In the mean time I am also gearing up for work and more work.... and am proud to say I have finally finished a few long awaited assigments too! So I feel like I have really accomplished a lot this week.... now I just have to tend to tidying & cleaning my house! It's a bit of a wreck at the moment - Ahhhhh!
The weekend starts tonight with a few games of tennis with my husband's family whikst we continue to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday [from Wednesday]....then a lovely mix of acticivies - Isabelle's swimming classes, and having my cousin & her partner over for a summer lunch, then more eating with brunch with friends on Sunday... I love this kind of weekend!

Thank you for joining me this week at Palatial Living... Can't wait to See you next week!
Don't forget Monday is Valentine's Day - it doesn't mean you have to buy something why not make someone a special sandwich, or prepare a lovely dinner, or get cracking on your own card!
Have a Palatially great weekend - Enjoy,

Happy Weekend...

Hope you have a fun & fabulous weekend! It looks to be another 'stinker' here in Sydney so we'll be aiming to make it to a shoreline somewhere over the weekend to cool down and let our 'fur kids' a chance to swim around too!
Thank you for joining me this week - I am starting a couple of exciting new routines in the upcoming weeks so please bear with me as I try to post through the week. I promise it's worth 'hanging' in there for!

Festive Friday!

My vased magnolia branches from my previous Christmas vignette have wilted in this steamy summer heat we're having here in Sydney... So I asked my husband, Matthew, if he could pick up some 'sticks' for a new Christmas vignette I wanted to [re]create. He asked what 'kind of sticks?' - I said '...you know the bush walking kind  - long , sturdy and have a few nodules on them...'. And off he went with baby Isabelle strapped to his chest in the Bjorn and two poochies on leads in tow!
Well, he came back triumphant and with super sized 'sticks'- these weren't sticks but huge dead gum tree branches! Actually much better than I had hoped for [sorry honey!] their length was wonderfully in proportion to our 10ft ceilings - so I have rejigged a little Festive display.
No doubt - like me - you too have a socially chaotic weekend - maybe a spot of present shopping too, especially with only 2 weeks left till Christmas! Wherever you are & Whatever you're up to I hope you have a wonderful Festive weekend! Thanks again for joining me at Palatial Living this week.
Enjoy,

Happy Weekend!

Wow it's Friday & the Weekend is Here! It's been a whirlwind week, I have been on a 'secret mission' this week for a couple of things - and they have taken up a fair bit of time, I will reveal all very soon [maybe the New Year I will be able to]!! I am super glad it's coming to an end... Hence missing a few posts here & there!
But I did get some great shots from the 'Friends of Leon Gallery' exhibition that I promise to share with you, and I hope to have an exciting 'Friday Flowers' planned for next week - I just have to work out when I can visit this person & their beautiful store so I can post a special blog on it... Oh & also our dear friend[s] Carolyn [and her husband John] just had a darling little boy yesterday, who they named Frederick [Freddie for short], and we're looking forward to meeting him over the weekend. Welcome Freddie! So somewhere in there I caught my breath!
Thank You for visiting Palatial Living this week - I promise to bring you more Palatial things your way next week! Have a great weekend, Enjoy -
