Fabulous Store Find in Hobart...

On my recent holiday to Tasmania, I not only had a great time away with my husband & our little girl, but also got to suss out some great stores...with camera in tow! Here's one I cam aross located in the Salamanca Arts Centre, Salamanca Place called 'The Maker'. I just loved all aspects of this store from the eclectic hand-made craft artisan feel of each item - homewares, furniture, and clothing, to the re-purposing of old appliances & gadgets - like the sewing machine, scales, and typewriters - it had a romantic mid-century modern purity & simplicity about it. Truly gorgeous.

Take a look..and if you're in Hobart be sure to look up 'The Maker'. Enjoy x

Leading Me Up The Garden Path...

Above - Blue metal gravel path is tonal and soften with healthy lavender bushes.
Above - A sleek path with over sized rectangle format blocks spaced apart for dwarf mondo grass over a water feature makes for a clean modern look.
Above - Metal borders help to create a sweeping path filled with large format square pavers swimming in shale off cuts, the structured path is softened by the flowering grass plantings - the style echoes elegant refined Zen-like calmness with refinement of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Above: Natural sandstone in 'crazy paving' laid into the grass helps to create an urban woodland atmosphere.

I'm a very keen gardener {thanks to my Mum & Grandma} and I often find elements in other gardens that I would like to incorporate into mine, or my client's... Here I found several different styles of garden paths using different materials that would suit any garden from the organic cottage, to the sleek minimalist modernist & refined elegant Zen, to the natural urban woodland...
What type of garden path would you like to be led up?

In Love with Toile...

Today I am in love with toile prints - I was inspired by a client that has a fabulous foot stool placed at the end of their bed in red & cream toile. I particularly love toile when used with a modern bright ground colours, but also have a true fondness for the traditional toiles that lend themselves to their French heritage.
