Go Get It!

Love this.
I believe in doing. I believe in doing what you say that you're going to do. I believe that if you put 'it' out there - 'it' will come back to you... both positive & negative.
But sometimes you have to reach out for 'it' too!
This weekend go beyond your comfort zone - try it, go for it, do it!
I think one of the worst things to do is to regret. If you ask the question or give it a go - you may never wonder 'what if'!
Go get it! Swim out to your 'ship'. And make sure you have fun getting there!

Tap Tap Tapping... Working Away.

Ever get that surge of inspiration that keeps you awake well past your 'bed time'... that same feeling that masks the over tiredness?
Well for me that's my creative juices flowing... I was working on a few things, and also sorting & organising my image library, and one thing always leads to another! Much like with reading blogs it's an endless trail of new ideas - just have to keep going!

Just Because...

I wanted to share this quote I found from Coco Chanel, I'm not usually into quoting bits but this one from a style icon herself really does ring true in all facets of our lives. Often we can get caught up in things in a race to create a perception of ourselves and we can can waylaid with too much 'stuff' - be someone, just be fabulous-wonderful you! x

Coco Chanel c. mid 1920's
A snippet of style history for you stripe-lovers like me out there...
Did you know - Coco Chanel started the trend after a fisherman's striped sweater caught her eye all those years ago. She paired it with men’s trousers and a fashion revolution was born. Originally beginning as a rebellion to the then-current flouncy layers of then Edwardian-inspired dress.  These stripes originated in the French Provence of Brittany, a French province that occupies the peninsula between the English Channel and Bay of Biscay. The 1858 Act of France introduced Breton stripped shirts as the uniform for French navy seamen. It was eventually picked up by other seafarers.

Apparently the stripes helped spot men any who fell overboard. Coco Chanel, was inspired by the Breton stripe after a visit to the French coast. It is also referred to as a marinière which applies to the original garment shape and style of three quarter sleeves and blue and white stripes. The long-sleeved cotton garment usually has a boat neck and, traditionally, the stripes begin around the breastbone.

A little style & stripe history for your Thursday visit at Palatial Living! Enjoy x

Bedroom Inspiration...

Our bed is due to go to God soon - it's had a great life, so now I'm looking at new beds - frames, headboards & mattresses and further inspiration for our bedroom at the moment... I have a few pieces I think I will keep & re-vamp and several I think would work better as newly introduced pieces. So before I make any major purchases and any unnecessary painting or upholstery work I am looking at a few different approaches to bedroom settings and colouring, naturally I get caught on blue, white and a neutral colour palette! However aside from colour - styling and what I need out of the bed and will it go with existing pieces is quite a high priority...
I found these great bedroom images in my photo file [above] that I quite like - they're fresh, contemporary, stylish and have a sense of relaxation - all feelings very important in my bedroom sanctuary. So I will keep on with the search - will let you know how I go and what we come up with!
