Mid Week House Snoop... Picture-esque Contemporary Sydney Rural Property

Ever wanted to be in a country setting by not miles and miles from Sydney... I have found it! In the picture-esque [semi] rural Sydney setting of North Richmond, located close to the base of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. Here stands a stunning contemporary rural country style home complete with edgeless infinity pool, sandstone capping and flagging, manicured landscape gardens, polished hardwood timber floors, gorgeous exposed timber rafter beans amongst high vaulted ceilings - showing off an enviable sunny Northerly aspect to the rear. Whilst boasting a fabulous indoor outdoor two way fire that services both an alfresco eating & entertaining area and an expansive yet cosy living space for the whole family.
There are so many fantastic images of this home that I did find it hard to edit for this post...
Enjoy,

Colour Can Change Everything...

Did you know that colour can change everything? It really can - your mood & atmosphere, the light, the design, the balance and your world! Have you been thinking about furthering your colour & design knowledge, or maybe even changing careers into the world of colour & design in industry, or start up your own small business - in a part time lifestyle paced study mode?
If these types of ideas & questions have been lingering around you for a while - now IS the time to take it with both hands! You haven't missed the boat - at ISCD [the International School of Colour & Design] located in North Sydney now have enrollments for a May 2011 intake  [for Sydney-siders] for the Certificate IV in Design [a nationally recognised certificate- Foundation course] for a 26 week course on Saturdays from 10am -1.30pm, that I am to be teaching! You could have your Certificate IV in Design completed by December this year, from there the sky is the limit ... so get moving and make the change! Alternatively if you live away from Sydney and cannot attend the campus classes your best colour & design learning option is to get hooked up with ISCD's fabulous iDE [International Distance Education] program for the Certificate IV in Design. Palatial House Snoop...Contemporary Cottage on the Beaches

Nestled in one of my favourite Northern Beaches suburbs of Avalon, you will find this gorgeous Palatial Contemporary Sandstone & Weatherboard Cottage. I loved it for it's successful combination of keeping original integrity and it's newly renovated spaces in keeping with a French Riviera-meets-Hampton's style with an Australian coastal lifestyle flavour.
I am always a 'sucker' for sandstone features particularly when teamed with a fireplace, as well as the comfortable freshness of the undercover verandah sitting & dining area - much like a Queenslander, quintessentially Australian. The simplicity of the neutral, soft colour scheme lends itself to bringing the outdoors in with considered use of stone, natural timber, and loved leather.
Take a look, have a snoop & see what you think.....

Wow, I cannot believe October is here already! As one of my favourite months in the year for a few good reasons - a) it's my birthday month, b) it's Halloween [which is my actual birthday day & for fun celebrations for my friends in the Untied States]; c) New South Wales [my home state] gets Daylight Savings this weekend, and d) for New South Welshman and a few other Australian states we get the Labor Day October Long Weekend! Lake House Love...

Back view of the lakeside cottage
Simple stylish lake themed decor - the name sake plate.
Open & Light Living Room - floors have been stripped, sanded & polished.
Cosy sunlit corner - nautical neutrals give the lake house some classic youth

Making use of the large picture windows that seem to almost wrap around the living area - enveloped in light.
Enough room for the whole family - welcoming large dining table are relaxed with director chair slip covers & painted white end chairs, with a bright functional kitchen.

Light Neutral colour schemes in the bedrooms suit everyone & are easy to keep clean & up to date.

Wall colour similar to this is Dulux - 'Linseed', one of my favourite neutrals to use in any strength.

The Lake at Dusk...
Rather than my regular Real Estate Snoop - I went through looking for holiday homes recently to see what we could find to lease over the New Year summer holidays, and came across this gorgeous lake side cottage at Lake Conjola, on the South Coast of New South Wales...
Although not for sale it's a little lake house that I would be most happy to [try] to own!
