Fresh Living Rooms...

Loving these fresh, light & bright Living areas...
some colour combinations and looks can be timeless.
Is it time to mix up your throw cushions, or a fresh coat of paint?
Enjoy,

The soft, creamy gray color running through this small living room
helps it feel bigger, since the eye doesn't focus on it and
goes straight to the windows.
Designed by Ginger Barber. Featured in July 2009 issue

Chardonnay grape vineyards surround this contemporary California farmhouse.
Designer Jean Larette wanted this living room to have a seamless
indoor-outdoor flow. Two walls of foldable, glass-paned doors take the
place of solid walls so the owner can feel the breeze and enjoy the view.

Palatially Beautiful Reading Room...

With end of financial year I am sorting out personal and business papers, filing and putting away folders and my imagination is running away to this lovely reading-sitting-living room photographed by one of my favourite photographers [and Elle Decor's photographer] William Waldron...I'd like to sip tea in one of the camellia pink armchairs...

Book Shelf Love...

Smart Space - Custom-built egg-crate shelving covering an entire wall provides ample room to mix storage and display. A mix of magazine organizers, baskets, and boxes provides storage for periodicals, stationery, and painting and office supplies and creates a pleasing, layered mix of objects.
There's room in the kitchen too...
A winning combo - Special space for art & artifacts with favourite books - back lit with pops of colour that compliments the upholstery.
Quirky & Clever - Three bookcases joined with molding provide plenty of space for books and have a built-in feel. The space above the bookcases is put to use storing extra chairs for guests.
Floor to ceiling befriending the doorway...
I have always adored books & their shelves - here I found some great spaces and places for housing your favourite paper friends, and some with other great neighbours such as seating, art & artifacts, and tea pots & plates. I have always dreamt of having a hall way lined with shelving for books, or a small library & home office again again with a couple of walls lined with books! We had/ some plans drawn up for a home office a little while ago that also incorporated [white] built-in floor to ceiling shelving to house my art & design books...Now just need to keep saving for the conversion, hopefully to too far off in the future!

Wouldn't It Be Lovely ...

Colour Blocked Living Space - epoxy white painted floors for long wear & a great use of an old friend - using a favourite old doily photographed on a colourful background - blown up and positioned off-centrefor a modern placement on canvas. Doily's and lace also used as applique on a bright ruby cushion - playing with positive & negative space, so 'wow'!
White Romantic, Fresh & Contemporary Storage - Office & Living Space with a super 'pop' of love-heart red that adds a sense of liveliness and depth.
These blue based pale pink walls are both romantic & modern when combined with white trimmed windows, skirts and bedlinen. The floral bouquet pattern on the quilt cover adds a touch of femininity & cosiness - the stripe floor mat anchors the feminine room without adding too much more to it.

Today it's raining and cool here [in Sydney] & so I thought wouldn't it be lovely to cosy up with the one you love in a Romantically inspired room!
