Just a Few Wrapped Up....

A simple 'folkloric' feel ... red, white, silver & brown paper! Some 'creative' wrapping using both sides of a patterned paper, and brown craft paper as 'ribbon bands' around the gifts - helps to create colour variation, surface design & shape definition with out too much fuss.
Brown paper packages tied up in string - these are a few of my favourite things!
What can I say I just love presents, wrapping & giving and receiving & opening!

Creative Gift Wrapping...

I love wrapping up presents [I still have a heap to do!] but especially when you can be a little creative about it... it doesn't take much truly. I particularly love these images showing that wrapping doesn't have to be boring, even using some broadsheet newspaper can be made festive with a touch of red & white, some letter stamping, a few cut outs with ribbon & cord! Voila! Enjoy,

[Underground] Bon-Bons for Friday!

Happy Friday!! I am so happy that's nearly the weekend - I can get to the rest of my Christmas decorations & final present wrapping, and we have a (an early) family Christmas event on Sunday !!
Today's image is courtesy of one of [my] Palatial Living's biggest fans, my sister - Felic, who is currently living & working [as a lawyer] in the UK. And between Felic & her fiance, Alex, they have a huge fascination with maps [of London] that also double something else such as wrapping paper! Here [image above] Felic sent me this image of the London Tube - Underground - map, being used as Bon-Bon wrapping, so clever & 'location-ally' stylish!! Maybe you have a city map that you could thematically use as part of your decorations or table setting for your international or out-of-town guests at Christmas?
Hope your weekend is wonderful one - relaxing, eating, drinking , carolling, or seeing friends and family in the lead up to Christmas, and very importantly if you still need to shop that you're able to find that elusive car spot at the shops this weekend!! Enjoy & Thank You for stopping by at Palatial Living this week - I hope you have found some inspiration! S xx

Getting Festive - Christmas Wrapping...

I love nothing better than wrapping up and giving presents - especially themed style & colour en-mass! And there's no better time than Christmas to make a great 'wrapping' statement!!

Cheerful Gift Boxes - To give a cardboard box a cheery makeover, place the lid on top of a card. Using a ruler, draw an outline that's about 1/4 inch outside the lid. Cut just inside the line with a pair of pinking shears. Use a glue stick to attach the cutout to the lid; the card will extend over the box's edges (be sure it's centered over the lid before pressing down). Repeat to cover the bottom of the box. I'm getting into the festive season & have just 'designed' & ordered our 2009 Family Christmas cards which are an explosion of Cherry Red & White, that should arrive in a couple of weeks - enough time to write, lick, stamp & post out! Whilst getting into my Christmas cards it got me thinking of what will me gift wrap colour theme be this year?
I love mixing non-traditional colours & ideas with Christmas - although this year I am leaning towards a slightly more 'handmade' look but am thinking about colour combinations such as Craft Brown Paper, Cherry Red, White & Pale Blue - as in the Real Living Dec 09 issue, and Home Beautiful Dec 09 issue - for the boys. And for the Girls - very similar so there's a strong theme - Craft Brown Paper, Cherry Red, White & Fuchsia Pink - as shown in some the pages of the Inside Out Christmas 09 issue!
So what colour, theme & style will you go for this year? Whichever way you go - have fun with it!!

BTW - Good news - This week the new issue for [Australian] Home Beautiful Dec 2009 is out in newsagents & supermarkets.
