Mary McDonald | in Print Pattern Colour & Scale for Schumacher

I have been addicted to seasons of Million Dollar Decorators on Bravo TV [Foxtel cable in Australia] and amongst some of my fave decorators on the show - as I love elements from each of them, I do love the modern sophistication and use of line, scale, print - pattern and colour that Mary McDonald uses in her decorating style. I loved her work before MDD, and her influences in my design work, but seeing her 'in life, in action' on the show is fabulous!

So I was excited to read [from elements of style blog] that she was doing fabric & trims collection collaboration with Schumacher [American textile & wallpaper house]. Schumacher is a fifth generation, family-owned company, F. Schumacher & Co. is proud to be the only supplier of decorative textiles from the 19th century still privately owned and managed by direct descendants of the founder. So this collaboration is certainly a huge win for all - Mary McDonald, Schumacher and the decor consumer.
Enjoy,

Mary McDonald a decorator after my own heart amongst all these
gorgeous Blue & White Chinese inspired urn & vase pieces,
and not to forget the stunning art-like sculpture pendant - fabulous.

Home Beautiful's Style File This Month - Is Swimmingly Turquoise...

Loving this month's [April 2010 issue] Australian Home Beautiful's Style File - featuring Pantone's colour of the year 'Turquoise 15-5519'. I adore the 'Chinoiserie' feeling that is created using this hue here through multiple pattern, scale & shade use... and am in particular love with the silk wool floor rug 'Rmza' in Emerald [approx. $3,000.00 from 1.7, x 2.4m] from Mokum. Can I have it now!

Store Love...in Dallas with Coral & Chinoiserie.

Following my Coral hue affair... I stumbled across this gorgeous store display & am completely in love with this decor space... the glamour, the exotic, the warmth, the contemporary appeal, the eastern Chinoiserie influence in the colouration, screen and artwork - the coral, duck egg blue hues teamed with black gloss, mahogany & teak timber tones, and eggshell coloured stone over sized coffee table. Hope you love it as much as I do...

Eastern Influence...Wallpaper

Today I love... the eastern influence and wallpaper used in these rooms, that belong to a professional couple from Atlanta Georgia U.S. who updated their townhouse with a fluidity of style & colour throughout. Here, they have used a distinctive wallpaper that also acts as a wall scape - bringing the outside in with the beautiful, delicate branches of a Japanese plum or cherry tree, with linked accent colours of plum red and starfruit yellow blossoms dotted through the tree branches. Small wren-like birds are curiously perched on less obvious branches - to appear like they are catching a little glimpse into the room. The blossom accent colours are harmonious tied back to the soft furnishings - such as in the cushions on the day bed, a nomadic style rug, an upholstered French ticking style stripe on a trophy chair, and through ceramic lamp bases & floral arrangements. The wallpaper ground colour - a warm based clay / chalk is a perfect base for these warmer higher value accents - bringing a cosy, contemporary elegance to a light filled space.
